Online Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Services

Beginning Psychotherapy

People come to psychotherapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear difficulty, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, a recent loss, or the feeling that something from the past has become difficult to keep carrying alone.

At other times, the reason is less easy to name. You may feel stuck, detached, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that keep repeating in your relationships or inner life. You may not yet know exactly what needs to be spoken about, only that something needs space and attention.

My work is psychodynamic, which means we take time to think not only about what is happening now, but about the deeper emotional patterns, relationships and experiences that may be shaping how you feel. The aim is not to rush towards quick advice or simple answers, but to create a thoughtful, confidential space where what feels difficult can gradually become more understandable.

How We Might Begin

Free 20-Minute Consultation

Most people begin with a free 20-minute consultation. Assessment consultations, ongoing psychotherapy and supervision are usually arranged after initial contact, so we can first think about what kind of help may be most appropriate.

90-Minute Assessment Consultation

If we decide to meet for an assessment, this gives us more time to think carefully about what has brought you to therapy, what you may be hoping for, and whether psychodynamic psychotherapy is likely to be helpful. It also gives you space to get a feel for how I work before making any commitment to ongoing sessions.

90-minute assessment consultations are usually arranged after an initial conversation. They give us time to think more carefully about your current difficulties, personal history and what you may be hoping for from therapy.

Ongoing Weekly Psychotherapy

Ongoing psychotherapy usually takes place once weekly, at the same time each week. This regularity matters. It creates a reliable space in which we can begin to notice patterns, make links, and think together about experiences that may not have been easy to put into words before.

I work online with adults across the UK and, where clinically appropriate, internationally. Sessions can be open-ended or time-limited, depending on what you are looking for and what we agree together.

Ongoing weekly psychotherapy is arranged after assessment, if we both feel that continuing would be helpful. Sessions usually take place online for 50 minutes at a regular agreed time.

Therapy Areas

I work with a wide range of emotional difficulties, including trauma, complex grief, bereavement, infant loss, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, attachment issues, and intercultural experiences alongside an interest in men's mental health.

These areas are not treated as separate boxes. In real life, grief may be tied to trauma, anxiety may be linked to relationships, and questions of identity or belonging may reach back into family history, migration, culture or early experience. Psychodynamic therapy allows room for this complexity.

Alongside therapy, I also offer reflective psychodynamic supervision for therapists, counsellors, nurses, trainees and other practitioners working with emotional and clinical complexity.

Supervision is a space to think carefully about your work, your patients or clients, and the emotional impact of clinical practice. It can be especially useful when work feels stuck, confusing, intense, or difficult to hold alone.

Supervision is arranged by enquiry, so that we can first consider your clinical context, training stage, professional needs and availability.

Taking the First Step

Reaching out does not mean you have to know exactly what you need. It is enough to begin with what feels difficult, unclear, or hard to carry. From there, we can think together about whether psychotherapy, assessment, or supervision is the right next step.
